For this project I chose to create a film inspired by the “How To” didactic films of the 50’s and 60’s. The way I chose to go about this was to make a how to slick your hair film targeting dancers with long hair. I chose this because a lot of the didactic films discussed in class were often targeted young girls, showcases right and wrong and how to become better. These films also were subliminally advertising products for costumers to buy. That’s why I chose to showcase hair care products, and claim the film was made by a hair care brand. I used a scripted cheesy cold open to cement my idea and I utilized the voice of god narration and music to create an easy to digest tutorial.
